BS 5975-1:2024 clause 12.7.3 points out that the implementation risk classification identified
in Table 1 does not relate to the design check category in Table 2.
5.2.6
The purpose of the implementation risk classification is to determine how regularly inspections
are carried out during use and who can issue the temporary works permit. This should be
included in the temporary works implementation plan and recorded on the temporary works
register.
5.2.7
The following shows how each item in the scaffolding package has been independently designed
and categorised but would be collectively classified as high risk. Note also that whilst the PC’s
TWC issues the permit to bring into use, the relevant TWS carries out the regular inspections.
