4.3 Design and build guidance
Competence to produce TG20 or TG30 compliance sheets
4.3.7
BS 5975-1:2024 clause 7.1.1 states that designers’ procedures should
identify the necessary qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience
required by temporary works designers to carry out design relevant to
the temporary works. In addition, BS 5975-1:2024 clause 8.1.6 states
that contractors’ procedures should include measures for appointing
competent temporary works designers. Since the scaffolding contractor
is likely to be appointed as a Managing Contractor, the Scaffolders’
Designated Individual should fulfil the requirements of both BS 59751:2024 clause 7.1.1 and clause 8.1.6.
4.3.8
The NASC provides guidance relating to the competency of
people preparing or checking compliance sheets which
states that it is generally accepted the scaffolding contracts
managers, site managers and supervisors and experienced
CISRS qualified foreman should have the appropriate
competency to perform these tasks based upon information
provided to them by the Principal Contractors Design Brief.
