Over-elaborate lengthwise joint in diagonal. Brace connected too far from node
Good example of concentricity of connections at a node
reakage of through ties resulted in the hydrostatic
orces on vertical formwork members being transrred to the falsework: because the falsework elements
ere only resting on each other and were not interconted they moved sideways. This caused disruption
consequential failure of the whole structure.
This highlights the danger of using a multiplicity of
unconnected elements on top of each other, relying
only on friction for structural integrity. We consider
that this commonly receives too little consideration by
both designers and erectors.
